Carsten Wardemann

Lawyer and tax advisor. He is in charge of the our firm’s legal department and contact person for all issues relating to business and tax law. His many years of work in the tax law department of the law firm Haarmann, Hemmelrath & Partner in Düsseldorf made him familiar with the procedural fundamentals. Since 2013 he has also been an expert of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Tax Advisors.

Bernd Goossens

Certified public accountant and tax advisor. He joined the firm as a partner in 2009 and has since strengthened its profile with the knowledge gained from his previous work at Ernst and Young in Düsseldorf and his function as senior authorised signatory at medium-sized law firms in Cologne and Düsseldorf. He is primarily responsible for audits of financial statements and tax audits of companies.

Daniel Pott

Daniel Pott is a lawyer and tax advisor. He already focused on tax law at university. After completing his master's degree in tax sciences (2004), he worked as a trainee lawyer at Haarmann, Hemmelrath & Partner in Düsseldorf and for several months in New York at a U.S. tax consultancy.

As a lawyer (2007) and tax advisor (2009), he then gained in-depth practical experience in the field of tax structuring in national and international tax law at Ernst & Young in Düsseldorf. Since joining SHWP (2010), he has provided comprehensive advice on German tax law with a special focus on tax structuring and tax disputes as well as on the interface to corporate and inheritance law.

Daniel Rheydt

A graduate in business administration, tax consultant, special consultant for international tax law. After graduating from the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf in 2005 with a focus on tax law and auditing, he passed the tax consultant exam in 2011 and joined the partnership of a medium-sized tax consulting and auditing firm in 2016. On January 1, 2020 he joined SHWP as a partner.

In addition to providing general tax advice, Mr. Rheydt advises national and international medium-sized companies with a focus on Eastern and South-Eastern European companies. He supports foreign companies in their entry into the German market and in setting up permanent establishments as well as subsidaries. Foreign employees seconded to Germany are supported by classifying and meeting their domestic tax obligations.

Henrik Smailus

After graduating from his studies of Business Administration and Japanese, Henrik Smailus worked for 12 years in the Japan Service Desk at Ernst & Young, Düsseldorf. As Senior Manager he led the statutory audits of German subsidiaries of well-known Japanese companies. In 2011 he acquired the qualification as a tax consultant and was appointed public auditor in 2013. He joined our partnership on July 1, 2020 and provides business service to our Japanese and international clients in the areas of statutory audit and tax advice.

Jürgen Helmhold (of counsel)

Mr. Helmhold was a founding partner of the firm in May 2000 together with Rainer Schnorbus. Mr. Helmhold retired from the partnership in January 2024.

Izumi Tanaka (of counsel)
